Top Water Activities in Worcester, MA

Worcester is not only one of the most most popular destinations in Massachusetts, it’s also surrounded by lakes (Lake Quinsigamond to the east and Indian Lake to the north) which comes with amazing perks like beautiful beaches, tasty, local food, great views, and, of course, a plethora of exciting water sports and other activities in Worcester.

In this week’s blog, HBHS is sharing some of our favorite water activities in Worcester. All of these are also family-friendly, affordable, and a great way to relax or beat the summer heat!

According to their site, Regatta Point Community Sailing aims to “We create opportunities for people to learn and grow through recreational boating by providing facilities, instructions and access to the water for all people regardless of their age, ability, and means.”

Set just outside of the UMass Memorial Medical Center along the Quinsigamond Lake, Regatta Point Community Sailing offers a range of classes including rowing, sailing, kayaking, and paddle boarding for people of all ages. The facility is home to a beach with a designated swimming area and shares the waterfront with the Worcester Boat Club. Regatta Point Community Sailing hosts a private parking lot and is just minutes from one of Worcester largest food and shopping areas, the White City Shopping Center. Regatta Point Community Sailing leads to several activities in Worcester.

The Lake Park area of Quinsigamond State Park is home a picnic area, swimming beach, outdoor track and field, and well-maintained tennis courts. This section of the state park is set on the southern half of the Quinsigamond Lake and offer a beautiful view of the surrounding waterfront real estate and islands. The swimming area, although sectioned off from the rest of the lake, offers a perfect way to relax on a day off.

Located near the summit of Bell Hill, the Bell Hill Pond is set adjacent to Chandler Hill Park, a lovely escape from the city that includes a swimming beach, on-duty lifeguards, a grass and grilling area, and a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. The park also offers a playground, full basketball court, and a multipurpose field or appropriate events.

After you’ve cooled off from swimming, feel free to take a hike through the Chandler Hill Park or participate in a class hosted by the city of Worcester’s Summer Fitness Series.


The Shore Park beach, aside from the beautiful view and swimming area it offers at Indian Lake, is home to plenty of other summer activities to enjoy. These include a picnic area, footpath, Gazebo/Pavilion, and outdoor volleyball courts.
